If you’re buying your first EV, Tesla is an easy choice. In America, it’s practically synonymous with electric car and everyone (who’s buying electrics) seems to be buying one.

But Ford has the chance to change that buying dynamic by bringing a storied nameplate to the EV space, the Mustang.

The 2021 Mustang Mach-E is slated to be available by late this year though volume availability isn’t expected until 2021.

Ford has reduced prices on all four versions of the 2021 Mustang Mach-E ranging between $1,000 for the cheapest trim, the Mach-E Select, and $3,000 for the Mach-E Premium.

The two most buyers will likely be focused on are the Mach-E Select and Mach-E Premium.

Like the Model Y, the Mustang Mach-E is a crossover. And like the Model Y, the Mach-E’s physical design is a far cry from the early electrics that simply swapped out a gas engine for an electric motor (like the 2013-2016 Chevy Spark EV), i.e., the Mach-E was designed from the ground up as an electric car.

The Model Y is only offered (currently) as dual-motor all-wheel drive.

But the Mach-E also gives you things you’ll find on the Model Y like plenty of cargo space including a front trunk (frunk), long battery range (on the Premium and other pricier models), wireless charging, and a 15-inch touch display.

配置方面,Mustang Mach-E和Model Y在前备箱、超长续航(Premium及以上车型可选择长续航版本)、无线充电和15英寸触摸显示屏等配置上势均力敌。

Ford also gives you a 10.2-inch “digital cluster” display directly in front of the driver that shows you things such as speed, battery percentage, and range remaining — a feature you won’t find on a Model Y or Model 3.

但Mustang Mach-E拥有的10.2英寸的数码仪表盘可实时显示车速、电池电量、剩余续航里程等信息,特斯拉Model Y和Model 3则没有该配置。

The one thing you won’t get on the Mach-E is a more robust “self-driving” option— not at first. Tesla’s “Full Self Driving Capability” is an $8,000 option on the Model Y (though Autopilot is standard on the Model Y).

虽然Mustang Mach-E在“自动驾驶”功能上相比Model Y还有所差距,但特斯拉Model Y车主需要支付8000美元才可升级到具备“完全自动驾驶能力”的Autopilot自动驾驶辅助系统。

The Mach-E does come with Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 with features such as Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking Blind Spot Information System and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.

而福特Mustang Mach-E所搭载的Co-Pilot360 2.0智行驾驶辅助系统,具有预碰撞辅助自动紧急制动盲点信息系统的功能和智能自适应巡航控制功能。

Ford calls its version of self-driving Active Drive Assist, which will be available as an over-the-air (OTA) update in the third quarter of 2021 for those buying a Mach-E this year or in the first half of next year. Pricing will be announced later when it’s closer to release.

福特称其自动驾驶系统为主动驾驶辅助系统(Active Drive Assist),今年或明年上半年订购Mustang Mach-E的用户将能够在2021年第三季度通过空中软件升级(OTA)获取该功能。 Mustang Mach-E的最终定价将会在稍晚公布。

The Mustang Mach-E Select AWD version has a range of 210 miles and is priced at $45,595. The Mustang Mach-E Premium Extended Range rear-wheel drive (RWD) has a range of 300 miles and an MSRP of $52,000.
